Viennese students develop innovative timetable app Whatsnext Edu!
In an exciting project, students from the Schopenhauerstrasse middle school developed their own timetable app called "Whatsnext Edu". The presentation of the innovative app took place in the ballroom of the Amtshaus at Martinstrasse 100 and aroused the interest of many present. Inspired by other schools that had successfully founded companies, it was Martin Rinnhofer, the class board of 3b, who launched this creative idea and motivated the students to do this project. They received support from Stevan Borozan, a consultant at Deloitte Austria, who accompanied them during the entire development process.
The project "Jump", which was initiated in collaboration with Teach for Austria and Deloitte, aims to enable young people to get started with their professional life. Borozan worked every two weeks for two school hours with the students who took on various tasks in groups, including logo design and programming. It is particularly noteworthy that the 14-year-old Reem took on the role of the project CEO, which not only demanded responsibility, but also a piece of leadership skills.
innovative solutions for students
The students were creative and, in addition to the app, also developed advertising videos to doctorate their creation. This app, which is to be made known across the Vienna, stands out from other timetable apps because it is specially tailored to the needs of its peers. Functions such as switching to dark fashion and an individual logo design were particularly important to young developers in order to optimize the user experience. At the moment, “Whatsnext Edu” is only available for Apple users, but an Android version is already being planned.
A particularly beautiful result of this initiative is the connection between school and business. The Teach for Austria volunteering program brings employees of partner companies such as Deloitte and Bank Austria Unicredit to schools in order to support students socio-economic. The volunteers work on educational formats that are tailored to the specific needs of the students and promote equal opportunities. In this way, the young people can benefit from a valuable support that gives them insights into the world of work and supports them in future professional orientation.
professional orientation at school
The topic of professional orientation is of great importance for many young people. Already at school they ask themselves many questions about choosing a career. Here the professional orientation program (BOP), which has been established by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since 2008, offers numerous measures to support. The core components are potential analysis and practice -oriented days when students get to know different professional fields. Such programs are available in all federal states and help young people to make well -founded decisions about their professional future.
In the interaction of the development of the "Whatsnext Edu" app and the supportive programs by Teach for Austria and the BOP measures, it becomes clear how important it is to offer young people practical and opportunities. The commitment of the pupils of the Schopenhauerstrasse middle school, supported by experienced partners, is an excellent example of how creative ideas and practical applications can come together to promote the talents of young people.
For the further course of the project and the development of the app, it remains exciting to observe how the students will continue to implement innovative ideas and prepare for their career. The future looks promising!
