Neos relies on mobility turnaround: important projects for Vienna and the surrounding area!

On September 25th, decisive course was set for the future of the transport infrastructure in Vienna. The NEOS brought three applications to the responsible commissions, all of which are pursued with a clear goal: improving the quality of traffic and life in the city. For example, a resolution application to support a urban development program at the Vienna University of Technology was assigned to the district development commission for the expansion of the Südbahn, also known as Corridor+. This four-track expansion should not only increase capacities, but also promote the city and traffic planner improvements that are urgently needed to take into account the mobility transition.

The traffic commission also received important impulses from the NEOS applications. Among other things, the restoration of the cycle path between Brunner Straße and Wildagasse and the extension of the sidewalk in Rodauner Straße were on the agenda. This shows that the party has a good hand when it comes to putting the bicycle traffic in the foreground and giving pedestrians more space.

Current developments in southern railway expansion

At the same time, there was a public discussion on the same day as part of the environmental impact assessment procedure for the southern railway expansion. Around 50 people were present to find out more about the current status of the project and ask questions. The participation of a member of the non -partisan working group of the municipality, which wants to help with this important topic, was particularly interesting. According to their blog, the Neos invested a lot of time and energy in the municipality's statements. This shows how important the opinions of the citizens are.

The noise protection measures were a central topic. There was certain confusion due to errors in the noise protection documents resulting from incorrect transfer of data. However, the ÖBB has made it clear that the calculation of the noise protection measures itself was correct. This shows that there is still room for improvement in communication between the authorities and the public.

The focus on the mobility turn in

The current developments are a sign that mobility in our society is very important. However, the mobility turnaround is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity. Cities and municipalities are the main actors who have to promote new concepts and alternative means of transport without wanting to do without. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport has launched initiatives that could also find support in Vienna and the surrounding area.

A light light on the necessary change throws projects such as Namix that develops an index to evaluate the sustainability of mobility in districts. Such tools are crucial to create a pedestrian -friendly and environmentally conscious transport infrastructure. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport emphasizes the importance of precisely local data for this planning and the implementation of measures that benefit humans.

Overall, it turns out that there is a lot of movement in Vienna and the surrounding communities in terms of transport and urban development. With a clear focus on sustainability and citizen participation, the NEOs and other political actors seem to pursue different ways, but the goal remains constant: a livable and mobility -friendly future for everyone.
