New café-restaurant Resselpark: A gray miracle in Vienna!

A lot has happened in the heart of Vienna, in the picturesque Resselpark near the Karlskirche. The popular café-restaurant “Resselpark” has been extensively redesigned and now shines in new splendor. The formerly bright brown facade has been transformed into a modern gray, which has drawn mixed reactions from the neighborhood. The architectural firm PPAG-Architects, which also worked on the renowned Steirereck in the city park, is responsible for the fresh design. Architect Anna Popelka describes the building as playful and oval and emphasizes that there is no clear front or back, but rather many entrances that invite exploration. This innovation is intended to promote the unusualness of the building and respond to the dynamic surroundings, as meinbezirk.at reports.

Another special feature is the listed Tilgner fountain, which was cleverly integrated into the redesign. The interior, which is clad in warm wood, harmonizes perfectly with the gray exterior color and creates an inviting ambience for guests. Care was taken to unseal and unify the floor, while the bar garden flows seamlessly into the general area. The polygonal design gives the restaurant the feel of a collection of small houses while creating flexible spaces with fragmented alcoves for tables and a column-free dining area that is ideal for varying group sizes.

Culinary delicacies in the Resselpark

The restaurant's landlord, Daniel Trattner, runs the traditional business, which has been in family hands for 24 years. Under his direction, the family business is now being modernized after the old Salettl was demolished due to its dilapidated structure and unreliable technology. The new building made of solid wood not only offers numerous corners and niches, but also an inviting roof terrace for up to 50 people, which is currently still being worked on diligently. The restaurant is currently in a soft opening phase, which means that cloakrooms and some other elements are still under construction, as gaultmillau.at explains.

In the kitchen, Trattner attaches great importance to real Austrian home cooking. Special attention is paid to the dumpling focus of the house. Guests can look forward to various variations of dumplings, including gram dumplings, meat dumplings, spinach dumplings and tomato dumplings with mozzarella heart, which cost between 15 and 16 euros. Other Austrian classics on the menu include Eiernockerl, Paprikahendl and Schweinsschnitzel, whose prices are also moderate. In addition, daily changing daily plates and a small but well-selected wine selection are offered - currently particularly popular: the White Spritzer, suitable for the season.

With a successful mix of modern design and traditional Austrian food, Resselpark has the potential to become a new meeting place in the popular district. It will be interesting to see how the Viennese guests will react to these fresh impulses - the signs point to enjoyment and conviviality!
