DiDays NextGen: Vienna's big education offensive for digital talent!

The city of Vienna is full of ideas for the future of education. The DiDays NextGen will take place from June 13th to 26th, 2025 - an innovative educational format that involves over 400 students from Vienna in the focus of digital education and current technologies. The offer is aimed at children and young people of all ages and offers them the opportunity to actively engage with topics such as digitalization, artificial intelligence and MINT careers. Vienna Holding reports that the goal of this initiative is not only to raise awareness of digital issues, but also to promote equal opportunities and diversity, especially for girls.

As part of DiDays NextGen, there will be a diverse program that includes workshops, hackathons and dialogue with industry experts. These events are intended to actively involve the young generation in the digital transformation. A special highlight is the three-day girls focus “NextGen Girls”, which gives girls between the ages of 12 and 14 the opportunity to take part in the Digital Girls Hackathon. Here they program applications on sustainability topics, which generates great interest and makes a valuable contribution to education in technology.

Diverse program for all age groups

The DiDays NextGen program is hard to miss. On June 13th, a workshop day for elementary schools will be held at the FH Technikum, which will be dedicated to safe use of the Internet. An exchange between students aged 16 and over and AI experts will also take place on this day in “das forum”. This opens an exciting dialogue about artificial intelligence and digital administration in education.

The Digital Girls Hackathon will take place at the A1 headquarters from June 16th to 18th. Here, 60 girls have the opportunity to test their programming skills and develop solutions to sustainability challenges. On June 18th there will be a workshop day especially for the “NextGen Girls” to overcome fears of technology and digital spaces and to learn practical skills.

Vienna as a pioneer for digital education

The goal of DiDays NextGen is also to position Vienna as an innovation and business location. The initiative also represents a model project for future educational initiatives, such as Digital City Vienna supplemented. In addition to the many workshops, the space festival “Space in the City” will also take place at Karlsplatz in the last week of June, where there will be interactive events for students aged 10 and over, as well as a conference on the Vienna Charter on digital rights for children and young people.

Interest in artificial intelligence in education is increasing a study by the Deutsche Telekom Foundation shows that many schools are still hesitant to use this technology properly. Potentials such as personalized learning paths and the support of teachers through AI should also be more closely integrated in Vienna in order to optimally prepare students for the challenges of the digital world.

The DiDays NextGen represent an exciting and future-oriented development in Vienna's educational landscape and offer a variety of opportunities to set the course for a digital future now.
