Wolves celebrate dramatic victory in Vienna: HCP Puster Valley follows!

Not only ice hockey was played in the exciting duel between HCP Puster Valley and the Vienna Capitals last Saturday, but also a real roller coaster ride of feelings. The team from South Tyrol, known for its combative attitude, prevailed 5: 4 after extra time and thus conquered third place in the ICE Hockey League. So reports the Daily newspaper.

However, the way to victory was anything but easy. Already at the beginning of the game, both teams showed that they wanted to fight for every point. Thanks to numerous shots and good chances, among others from Frycklund and Lipon, HCP Pustertal raised hope of a quick hit. Despite this commitment, the Viennese took the lead 1-0 with a deflected shot from Hackl in the 11th minute. The first third ended with a short gap for the wolves.

Exchange half

In the second third it went smoothly: the game was characterized by punishments and a passionate defense work. For more than twenty minutes, the wolves fought themselves through the outnumbered game and were finally able to compensate for Bardreau in the 30th minute. A few minutes later, Vey scored the 2-1 for the Capitals, but HCP could not be discouraged and countered a few moments later with Blum to 2-2. The dramatic turn of the game culminated when Purdeller took the lead to 3: 2 in the 37th minute for the wolves.

In the final third, the tension could hardly be endured. HCP Pustertal expanded the lead to 4: 2 in the 46th minute, but the capital did not give up and managed to shorten to 4: 3 in the 51st minute. Finally, Franklin came in the 55th minute and, with a goal to 4: 4, made the tie, which sent the game into the extension.

Lauridsen to the hero

In the overtime, however, the wolves showed their class and resolutely went hunting for victory. Lauridsen, who scored his first goal for HCP Pustertal, finally made his team cheer to cheer. A strong appearance that took into account the plans of the coach Jason Jaspers, who has been at the helm since May 2024 and relied on goalkeeper Jakob Rabanser.

With this victory, the team not only collects valuable points, but also optimistically looks at the next game on Friday against HC Bolzano - the first derby of the season, which will surely go into the history books.
