Experience Vienna on foot: Walking Week with spies and romance films!

The anticipation for the Vienna Walking Week is growing, because the event starts on Saturday, July 19, 2025 and is being organized for the sixth time by the Whoosh association under the direction of Eugene Quinn. The event aims to offer Viennese people new perspectives on their city and inspire them to explore Vienna on foot. Whether at night or day – everyone can experience the city in a very special way. The club wants to use the campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of walking and at the same time promote fun and new encounters.

From July 19th to 26th, there are numerous guided tours on offer, covering both fresh and traditional routes. A total of 12 new walks are on the program, supplemented by 3 already known tours. Topics range from “Neubau Street Art” on July 19th to “Architectural Moments: Mid-century Modern” on July 26th. The day of the “Walk to Work” on July 22nd is likely to be particularly exciting, when participants can walk to work in a relaxed manner. This is not only healthy, but also a great way to rediscover the city.

Walk in the footsteps of “Before Sunrise”

A very special highlight will be the walk on Monday, July 21st, which honors the 30th anniversary of the film “Before Sunrise”. In this classic from 1995, the protagonists Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke spend twelve unforgettable hours in Vienna. On this day, participants can visit the romantic locations of the film and be transported to the atmosphere of that time. The tour promises more than just an hour; The more than five-hour hike will certainly be an unforgettable experience for all film and Vienna lovers.

New life in the city and its treasures

Vienna is one of the eight most visited cities in Europe, and yet many locals don't experience their city's hidden gems. “Vienna Walking Week” wants to counteract this and offer Viennese the opportunity to rediscover their city without traveling. The philosophy behind it is clear: beautiful things on your doorstep are often unknown, and the city has a lot of complexity to offer that needs to be deciphered. With “Tourism for Locals” the focus is on our own citizens and they are invited to gain a new perspective on their own surroundings.

The Vienna Walking Week is not just an event, but an experience that invites you to smile and be amazed. A stroll through the city, combined with the exchange of new impressions and acquaintances, brings a breath of fresh air into everyday life. So, lace up your shoes and let Vienna surprise you!
