Big blow against drug boss: Viennese police hold international smugglers!
The Viennese police have carried out a significant blow to a cross -border drug dealer group. Several suspects were arrested in a large -scale action by the operational group to combat street crime (EGS). Investigators were able to make a total of seven alleged members of the drug ring. The missions took place in Vienna and Lower Austria at the beginning of April, with the police measures a clear sign in the fight against drug crime.
In the searches in the various residential objects, the officers secured over 650,000 euros in cash, 124.5 kilograms of wagons as well as two weapons and a fake document. Particularly noteworthy: A 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen was arrested on April 2 when driving a vehicle for smuggling trips. The high -risk money transports between Bratislava and Vienna led the police directly to a so -called “money -bunker apartment” in the Alsergrund, where large cash sums were discovered in various currencies.

But that's not all: A 22-year-old Austrian who acted as a cash messenger for the Ukrainian was also arrested. When he was arrested, the police confiscated cash in the lower six-digit euro area, a shotgun, a gas gun and a fake document. In another "drug bunker apartment" in Leopoldstadt, the investigators found 5.5 kilograms of cocaine, unauthorized weapons and cash in the five-digit euro area.
In the case of subsequent house searches in Donaustadt and Alsergrund, three men aged 26, 27 and 73 were arrested with Austrian and Syrian citizenship. They too were involved in the machinations, which led to further cash removal in the lower five -digit range. The drug finds mentioned add up to 5.5 kilograms of cocaine, 16.5 grams of marijuana and 322,640 euros.international connections and further arrests
On April 11, the police again performed against the organization. Four other suspects were arrested in Simmering and Vösendorf: a 33, 34 and 35-year-old Slovak and a 54-year-old Hungarian who are part of the logistics chain for drugs from Spain to Austria. A suspected truck was stopped in Simmering, where 119 kilograms of marijuana and 200 grams were hashish. The 54-year-old even became noticeable with almost 330,000 euros in cash.
The State Criminal Police Office Vienna, South branch, takes over the further investigation. This investigative offensive is part of a wider trend in drug fighting, which is characterized by higher control intensity and growing international cooperation. [Federal Criminal Police Office] describes how these measures for the strategy of fighting crime in Austria should be part of and help to get both prevention and repression under control.
The police crime statistics that covers the development of criminal events has been showing positive progress in dealing with drug crime in Austria since 2001. The focus remains on the consistent persecution of perpetrators and the clarification of the population about the dangers of drug trade. At least the previous successes show that the police have a good hand when it comes to putting the crime for organized crime.
