GAK secures top scorer Prenqi: Is the breakthrough coming?

Things are getting exciting at Grazer AK: The club has signed Arbnor Prenqi, a striker who is moving from SC Neusiedl to the Mur. However, this decision is subject to a positive medical check, which, according to GAK sports director Dieter Elsneg, is already on the agenda. Prenqi was born in 2000 and made a name for himself in the Regionalliga East by finishing last season as top scorer with 25 goals. This is an impressive feat considering he scored 43 percent of the goals for his team, which finished the season in fourth place. The sports director expects Prenqi to take advantage of a second chance in his career after suffering some setbacks in the past. Kleine Zeitung reports that the striker was already present at the start of GAK's training and did his first laps on a neighboring pitch.

What makes the change so interesting? Arbnor Prenqi had an eventful career: He spent his youth at well-known clubs such as Rapid Wien, Vienna, Penzing and FAC before taking his first steps in adult football at Wiener Sport Club and later at Traiskirchen, Fortuna Wiener Neustadt and SC Neusiedl. Coach Stefan Rapp from Neusiedl praised Prenqi's speed and playing skills and indicated that he was also in the draw for other clubs such as WSG Tirol. Ultimately, however, the 25-year-old decided on the GAK, where the offensive balance also needs a boost.

Offensive under pressure

The statistics speak volumes: GAK only scored 34 goals in 32 games - a weak offensive performance that lags slightly behind the competition. Only Klagenfurt and Altach were able to score fewer goals (33 and 29 respectively). The need for reinforcements on the offensive is therefore great. With Arbnor Prenqi, the GAK hopes to have found a promising solution. The striker could be exactly the snapper who makes the difference and gives the Graz team a breath of fresh air. Krone emphasizes that the expectations for Prenqi are high, especially after he showed what he is capable of in Neusiedl.

Whether the transfer actually takes place now depends on the upcoming medical check. But the anticipation for the new striker is palpable, and the GAK supporters hope that Prenqi can significantly strengthen their offensive. The next few weeks will show whether this transfer can be the key to Graz's sporting success.
