Festive mountain mass in Reichling: Faith and community in the open air!

On the last Sunday of summer, September 28, 2025, the traditional mountain mass of the Penzing-Weil parish community took place on the Wurzberg near Reichling. Pastor Martin Rudolph and chaplain Theodore Ozoamalu celebrated the service in bright late summer weather. They were supported by the wind instruments of the Penzing Music Association and the Geretshausen Music Friends, who, under the direction of Daniel Schmidt, provided the musical accompaniment and gave the mass a festive atmosphere. Many visitors made their way to Wurzberg by bike to take part and enjoy the community.

After the fair, the participants were invited to the Mitschke inn in Reichling, where they had lunch together. This is not only a nice tradition, but also an opportunity to get to know each other better and chat after the service. Such events not only offer spiritual experiences, but also the opportunity to strengthen the community and exchange ideas.

Mountain services and the Holy Year 2025

In 2025, which Pope Francis proclaimed to be the Holy Year, there will be a particular focus on mountain services. Under the motto “Pilgrims of Hope,” the Catholic Church encourages people to find support in God in challenging times. These services offer a change from everyday life and strengthen the connection between heaven and earth, God and man. The soul can unwind in nature and the participants can be inspired by the promises from the Bible that convey confidence.

For everyone who would like to continue to take part in mountain services, there are still a few dates on the program: On September 28th in Auerberg near Stötten at 11:00 a.m., with a children's service and the Burtenbach music association. On October 26th, mass will be celebrated in St. Wendelin near Lechbruck at 10:30 a.m., accompanied by the Lechbruck music band. These events are designed to create community experiences and convey the feeling that you are not alone in your challenges. Mountain services in Tyrol

Mountain services are also very popular in Tyrol. For example, on September 6, 2025, a summit mass was celebrated at the Wartkogel in the Ötztal. Numerous districts and communities offer various trade fairs throughout the year. These events not only promote faith, but also a connection to nature.

The mountain fair at Axamer Kögele took place on September 7th at 12:30 p.m., organized by the Axams mountain rescue service. And the summit mass at the Nößlachjoch Hoher Turm mountain lift also attracted many believers. Additional events such as the mountain fair on the Rofanspitze on September 13th underlined the diversity of these outdoor breaks. In particular, the musical arrangement by local brass groups makes these services a special experience for all visitors, regardless of whether they are Catholic or not.

This shows that mountain masses and church services in nature not only provide spiritual light in everyday life, but also help to experience community and recharge your batteries for the challenges of life.
