Neubauer students develop exciting city challenge for more health!

Josef-Strauß-Park, Wien, Österreich - A happy cooperation and creative ideas were in the foreground today when around 50 students from the Neubaugasse middle school and the technical middle school in the center of Burggasse presented their newly developed City Challenge tours of Vienna Health Promotion (WIG). The opening tour took place in the beautiful Josef-Strauß-Park, where the young developers were awarded documents for their efforts. As reported [ots.at] (https://www.ots.at/presseaus-sung/ots_20250612_ots0082/urkunden-fuer-neubauer-schuelerinnen-jugendt-wig-City-City-Challenge-Health tour, this exciting project aims to make young people into play and at the same time To promote team spirit and creativity.

Deputy Deputy Deputy Mag.a Isabelle Uhl expressly supported the free hands-on offer and invited to participate in the tours in the Vienna districts. The City Challenge tours can be booked free of charge by October 2025 and last about two hours. They include puzzles, estimation questions and exercises that the young people have to master in small groups. They are accompanied by trained people and use an app for navigation to find their way around the Grätzel.

The City Challenge tours

The tours are offered in 12 Viennese districts and can be carried out all year round and independently of the weather conditions. They not only support the health of the participants, but also promote the social participation of young people. The [wig.or.at] emphasizes that the "do it yourself" tours enable schools and extra-curricular youth facilities to explore exciting places and leisure activities in their own district. Snacks and the free app "Actionbound" are required for participation, which can be downloaded to tablet or smartphone. In addition, the participants have to scan the corresponding QR code to start the tour.

The City Challenge tours fit well into the current context of health promotion in children and adolescents. A recently published participation of the Berlin Institute for Population and Development shows that the realities of life depend heavily on their place of residence and have an impact on educational opportunities and social participation. This information coincides with the findings from the initiative for health promotion, such as healthy-glebleichtheit.de.

The networking of schools, youth institutions and Viennese health promotion is an important step to create equal opportunities and to support all children and adolescents in Vienna in such a way that they can grow up healthy. Programs such as the City Challenge make a valuable contribution to health promotion that not only makes young people happy, but also sensitizes them for important topics.
