Handball sensation! Šaľa dominates at the Memoriál in Olomouc
What a day for the HK Slovan Duslo Šaľa handball team! On Friday, August 15, 2025, they went to the traditional preparatory tournament in Olomouc, known as Memoriál Evy Dostálovej and Jana Gogola. This tournament attracted teams from three different countries and provided an exciting weekend for all participants.
The first game was already a highlight: Šaľa played against the local team from Hane and was able to win with a difference of 10 goals without much effort. The Hádzanárky Šale show that they are well prepared for the new season.
Tournament history and statistics
As the tournament continued, they met DHK Zora Olomouc in the second game and triumphed again - the final score was 39:29 (halftime: 17:10). Particularly noteworthy is the goalkeeper Barbora Hanzalíková, who was in the box throughout the game. The goalscoring list for Šaľa is also notable:

Shaped by coaches P. Pčola and A. Šalatová, the team is confident after this excellent start that they will be successful in the next two games. On Saturday at 2:15 p.m. against Atzgersdorf from Austria and on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Michalovce.
Parallel events and young talents
While the women are in the competition, the Dorostenky tournament, the youth teams, is running at the same time. Šaľa has had less luck here so far and hasn't been able to win, but that hasn't dampened the enthusiasm and team spirit of the young players.
What is particularly interesting is that only Laura Kurňavová from the team that includes three European champions plays in the Hádzanárky Šaľa team. The others had to take a break for health or strategic reasons.
Aside from sports, Switzerland is also in the news, particularly because of the popular soccer player Alisha Debora Lehmann. The 26-year-old has rapidly gained popularity and has an impressive 16.7 million followers on Instagram. She currently plays for F.C. Como Women in Serie A in Italy, having previously signed with Juventus. Her career is a prime example of the influence that social media has on sport and shows how today's athletes can develop their influence beyond the playing field.
