Premiere of the Young Theater Vienna: Creative diversity for children!
A new star in the Viennese theater sky is just being born! The “Young Theater Vienna” is celebrating its premiere and starting its first season, which will last from September 2025 to June 2026. In a total of five districts - Favoriten, Simmering, Floridsdorf, Donaustadt and Liesing - the theater provides an exciting program that appeals to children, families and school classes. Around 45 creative productions and around 250 performances are planned. The offering ranges from classical drama, music theater, musicals and opera to poetic dance, object and puppet theater as well as modern circus art Today reported.
The young audience should not just watch, but also actively empathize, think and dream along. “Where you grow up is where your culture is at home” is the motto, which creates a connection to the world of children and young people and aims to create new cultural meeting spaces, reports Vienna.gv.at.
An exciting program
The first season features a large number of premieres. Silke Grabinger will present her premiere “EAT SLEEP DANCE REPEAT – Rest in Motion” on April 29, 2025 at the Reumannplatz girls’ stage. Director Sarah Scherer provides insights into “The Bound Fantasy,” which will be staged in cooperation with KINDEROPER.WIEN in October 2025. Further exciting live contributions from Futurelove Sibanda and Michael Pöllmann are planned until June 2025 in order to make the art offering even more diverse.
In addition, the “BRÖTCHEN & SPIELE” theater festival by “JUNGES THEATER FAVORITEN” will take place from March 14th to 16th, 2025, with numerous productions and performances that offer young theater fans an unforgettable experience.
Theater as a cultural and educational space
The theater should not only entertain, but also contribute to education and social integration.
