Ceremonial opening of the Gersthof Education Camp: A new glimmer of hope!

In Wien-Gersthof, part of the story was processed again: The former location of the orthopedic hospital at Wielemansgasse 28 shines as a new educational campus after extensive redesign. The official opening took place in the festive framework of a garden festival, in which high -ranking representatives of the Federal Real Estate Society (BIG) and district leader Silvia Nossek (Greens) and Peter Jagsch (SPÖ) took part.

The hospital, which closed its goals in 2019, was acquired by the Big in 2020, with the express edition of building a school location. A great praise is due to those responsible, who have successfully mastered all monument protection challenges. These were tackled in close cooperation with the Federal Monument Office and the Austrian Institute for School and Sports facilities. With 23 regular classes as well as special teaching rooms and spacious open spaces, the new campus offers everything the heart of the world desires.

Central focus in planning was to support all -day operation and also set up learning zones that enable flexible use of the classrooms. The facade of the charming building remains unchanged, while many historical characteristics inside have been carefully preserved. The building was created according to the highest standards of climate -active building, which gives it a modern and sustainable character.

The campus is currently acting as an alternative accommodation for the BG18 Klostergasse, which is located in the renovation. Many people present at the opening were optimistic that the location will be preserved as a public school even after use as an alternative accommodation. However, it remains unclear who will take responsibility for the campus in the future.

new building and sports facilities

In the south of the educational campus, there are also work on two sports pavilions that are planned for completion in summer 2024. BIG is investing around 6 million euros in these new sports facilities, which, among other things, offer a gym and a movement room. These should not only be available for the students: inside, but also external clubs.

The sports pavilions are designed as constructive timber construction with a larch wood facade and a photovoltaic system. This also attaches great importance to sustainability and resource conservation. In addition, the campus will offer a comprehensive range of sports, including a ball sports area and play equipment in the park. Immofokus summarizes that this infrastructure will benefit about 660 pupils.

For the future development of the educational campus, there are already other plans. A new high -rise with 15 floors is currently being built, which will take a gross floor area of ​​19,700 square meters. This innovative building will be used by the DHBW Heilbronn and the DHBW CAS.
