A lot is happening in the field of contemporary art in Simmering. The event series “Kunst.Platz.Simmering” opens on November 7th, 2025 at 5 p.m Simmering District Museum. The St. Lukas Guild Vienna brings a breath of fresh air to the district and promotes wonder and discovery through the eyes of 13 artists who present under the direction of Josef Kovacs.
The exhibition runs until January 30, 2026 and offers free entry. This is inviting for all art enthusiasts or those who are simply curious. The show will take place on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A highlight of the vernissage will be the musical performance by Josef Kovacs. In addition, the Förster piano will be played in the museum for the first time and will provide special sounds.
Encounters and exchanges
The aim of the event is not only to show art, but also to promote encounters and exchange in the neighborhood. Culinary offerings will round off the vernissage and offer visitors another experience. In addition to the visual diversity, literature will also not be neglected: the Simmeringen author Naomi Kalwil will read as part of the exhibition and present her current creative process.
The variety of art forms is impressive. From painting to graphics to installations, the artists' creativity can be experienced in a wide variety of facets. This exhibition will also offer a great platform for guest exhibitor Anna Pesek, who attaches particular importance to innovative approaches. It might even encourage one or two visitors to develop their own creative thoughts or rethink their own perspective on art – perhaps even a personal one Vindication to get moving.
