Unique table tennis show: 15 teams fight for fame in the Danube Park!
Donaupark, Wien, Österreich - On June 19, 2025, an exciting event of the Viennese table tennis district league took place in the Donaupark Vienna. This year, 15 table tennis doubles from 8 Viennese districts took part and thus set a new record. The event was organized by Table Tennis Hobby Vienna, which not only ensured the smooth process, but also wanted to promote the exchange and encounter among the players.
The league, which was launched in January 2025, shows how alive table tennis is in Vienna. In different groups, the teams fought for the day's victory and ultimately the Favorites team prevailed. The performance of the Donaustadt team, which achieved the highest number of points in the overall ranking, was particularly impressive.

The participants were divided into three groups:
- Group A: Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Favoriten, Team Leopoldstadt, Team Ottakring
- Group B: Team Meidling, Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Leopoldstadt, Team Favoriten
- Group C: Team Liesing, Team Simmering, Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Leopoldstadt
The game mode was designed for two winning sets, which provided many exciting and scarce matches. The interest in continuing the tournament is high, which indicates the great enthusiasm for table tennis in the city.
The history of table tennis in Vienna
table tennis has a long tradition in Vienna, which extends until 1901 when the first strokes were made in the Hietzingen sports club. Table Tennis Vienna gives an overview of the development of sport in the city, which has been thwarted several times through world wars and other challenges. In 1923 the first Viennese Ping-Pong game association was founded, and since then the enthusiasm for sport has developed constantly.
The Robert Hanak table tennis championship (RHTT), which was launched in 2011, now comprises 23 clubs and is the third largest table tennis association in Vienna. The VÖB, as the second largest bandage, also offers a wide range of opportunities for table tennis enthusiasts with its seven play classes.
For everyone who wants to join these teams, the conditions of participation are open: it is sufficient to find two people for a double team.
