The incident occurred after 2 p.m. on Linzer Strasse, in the 14th district, and fortunately no one was injured by the projectile, which penetrated a glass window. During a search of his apartment, officers found both the murder weapon and the cartridge case. An alcohol test showed an alarming level of 2.2 per mille. In addition, the man is being placed in a forensic-therapeutic center because he was assessed as mentally abnormal but sane. A corresponding psychiatric report has already been commissioned.

The accused himself commented on the action and described it as a “stupid action”. He emphasized that it was never his intention to hurt anyone. Despite his previous police knowledge of substance abuse, he has so far been blameless in court. The trial at the Vienna Regional Court is still pending, which raises questions about the legal and social consequences.
