Dibon in conversation: Promoting talent and shaping the future of football!
As part of the 165th edition of the LAOLA1 regulars' table, former football player Christopher Dibon, also affectionately known as "Dibi", spoke about his ambitions in the football world. He is currently intensively involved in training young footballers aged 13 and 14 at SK Rapid. Dibon works with a dedicated team to identify talented players for the Rapid academy and support their development. The event, which is available as both a video and a podcast, addresses, among other things, the values that Dibon values in his work with young footballers and the challenges in youth work.
“I see myself in management or as a sports director,” reveals Dibon in an interview with Andy Ogris. This statement clearly shows that Dibon not only wants to follow in the footsteps of a coach, but also has the strategic aspects of football in mind. The role of a sports director includes numerous levels of responsibility, including the strategic direction of a club's sporting area and squad planning. According to dfb-akademie.de, sports directors are the most important contact persons for coaches, players and the medical teams and must undergo comprehensive training.
The path to success in football
For Dibon, returning to the field and into the club structures means that he can pass on his knowledge from his ÖFB coaching training. “I assess the young talent and look at the players very closely,” he explains. This analysis is crucial in order to identify talent at an early stage and promote it in a targeted manner. While long-term planning and the connection between the performance center and professional football are important, Dibon particularly emphasizes the individual values that he wants to convey to his protégés.
The SK Rapid, represented by SK Rapid GmbH, is therefore not just an association, but also an institution that is willing to share its findings and experiences. As stated in the SK Rapid press area, the use of media content is only permitted for journalistic purposes, which facilitates the exchange of information and reporting on the club's activities. In addition, the responsibility for publishing materials is clearly regulated in order to protect the values and rights of the association.
With a growing interest in developing young talent and strategic direction in football, Dibon will certainly be a face of the future in Austrian football. Whether as an upcoming sports director or in management - one thing is certain: his passion for football and the desire to support the next generation are undiminished.
