New KulturCard for new building: Experience cultural diversity affordably!

A new “KulturCard” will soon be introduced in Neubau, which is intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the cultural life of the 7th district. The initiative aims to create incentives for cultural offerings and increase the visibility of local cultural institutions. The Cultural Commission approved the application unanimously, which shows that there is strong interest here. The chairwoman of the cultural commission, Anna Babka from the Greens, emphasizes the importance of making the cultural diversity in Neubau visible. Christina Schlosser from ÖVP Neubau also emphasizes how important education through cultural events is, especially for children and young people.

But what does this actually mean for new builders? The planned “KulturCard” is primarily intended to create affordable offers and will probably include formats such as a 1+1 card campaign for events. A digital version of the card is also being considered to ensure a modern and flexible offering. This could allow residents to participate in cultural events more easily and cheaply. However, the exact financing of the “KulturCard” is still unclear; Here the budget from the existing cultural budget or public relations resources remains to be seen.

Cultural support in the district

The Neubau Cultural Commission is also currently inviting anyone interested to apply for funding. The applications must be filled out correctly and completely. A concise project description helps the members of the cultural commission to get a clear picture of the projects. It is recommended that you also apply for complementary funding from other funding agencies. An overview of the available cultural funding can be found on the IG Kultur Wien website.

Applications should be submitted at least six weeks before the planned event date. In addition, applicants can submit applications up to ten days before the Cultural Commission meeting. If the funding is approved, the applicants will be informed of the specific funding criteria of the 7th district, which exist in addition to the general criteria of the cultural department (MA 7).

Looking into the future

An interesting comparison can be seen in the 9th district, where a similar system has existed for twelve years. Residents there benefit from discounted theater visits. This perspective could also ensure long-lasting enjoyment of the culture in Neubau. City Councilor for Culture Veronica Kaup-Hasler from the SPÖ is also supportive of the “KulturCard” and will be happy to assist with further developments and ideas.

The “KulturCard” promises not only an improvement in cultural participation in the district, but also an exciting further development for the entire cultural landscape in Vienna. With well-thought-out planning, this initiative could be a real hit. Further information and details about cultural funding can be found on the City of Vienna website wien.gv.at and in the Cash for Culture Program.
