Glaucoma is a serious issue that affects many people. Barbara Kiss, an experienced eye surgeon and glaucoma expert, will lead through the specialist lecture “Glaucoma (glaucoma) and eye drops: How do I drip correctly?”. This lecture begins at 5 p.m. in the advice center of the Aid Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austria, which is located at Jägerstraße 36, 1200 Vienna.
It is particularly important that there will be a question and answer session with Prof. Kiss after the lecture. In this way, interested parties can directly clarify their concerns and questions about glaucoma and the use of eye drops. The specialist lecture is free, but registration is required due to the limited number of participants. Those interested can register by calling 01/330 35 45-0 or by email at anmelde@hilfsgemeinschaft.at. And don't worry, the event is barrier-free and easily accessible by public transport.

What many people don't know is that using eye drops for the first time can be challenging, especially for people with limited hand function. This is where the concern of Prof. Kiss comes in, who is not only deputy head of the glaucoma outpatient clinic at the University Clinic for Ophthalmology and Optometry at the Medical University of Vienna, but also has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. Your expertise will certainly help deepen knowledge about this disease.
The lecture is supplemented by an educational film “How do I drip correctly”, which was presented at the DOG in September 2024. This film was produced in collaboration with the Federal Association of Glaucoma Self-Help e.V. in Dortmund and the DOG Glaucoma Section. The association, which was founded in 2001 and has 23 self-help groups in Germany, offers numerous information resources, including multilingual brochures about glaucoma. These are not only available in German, but also in English, Turkish and Arabic.
Self-help and information events
The federal association also offers regular patient information events via Zoom and organizes glaucoma days and children's glaucoma days in various German cities every two years. This underlines the association's commitment to imparting knowledge to those affected and interested parties and to supporting them with their questions. If you have any questions about the Glaucoma Vienna/Austria self-help group, the group leader Natascha is available via email.
