Claudio Farkasch: The photographer who combines digital and analogue in the new building!

The Neubau district in Vienna has a new star in the photography sky: Claudio Farkasch. The photographer, who runs his studio “Der Club” in Stiftgasse, has made a name for himself in the Viennese photography scene. Long before he turned his passion into a career, his fascination with cameras began as a child, when he received his first analogue compact camera at just six years old. The special sound of the mechanical shutter wouldn't let him go. Although photography was widespread in his family, it was ultimately Farkasch who took this path professionally, colleagues report meinkreis.at.

In 2002, Farkasch began taking photographs at hip-hop events in Vienna and set up his own business in 2008. Initially without a fixed studio, he has settled in the trendy 7th district since 2021. Neubau is considered a hotspot for photography and is known for its numerous laboratories and studios. Claudio Farkasch stands out from other providers by offering a special service: In addition to shootings and the development of photos, the studio also offers personal consultations. Farkasch describes his studio as a kind of doctor's office where time is taken for personal care. His target group is particularly younger people between the ages of 18 and 35 with a passion for analogue photography.

The Photography Club

The studio “Der Club” not only functions as a photo studio, but also as a platform for photography enthusiasts. Farkasch would like to create a meeting place where like-minded people can exchange ideas and be inspired. In his private life, Farkasch also primarily photographs analogue photos, often with his daughter as the subject. A project close to the photographer's heart is the idea of creating his own photo books with his work, which underlines his creativity and his connection to photography. The studio is open by appointment via Instagram.

In the context of the growing enthusiasm for analogue photography in Vienna, the offer of the PHOTO ARSENAL VIENNA increasingly important. This new institution has been responsible for the FOTO WIEN festival since 2023 and is planning the “Vienna Digital Cultures” festival from 2025 in collaboration with the Kunsthalle Wien. PHOTO ARSENAL WIEN is a state-of-the-art media competence center with around 1,000 m² of exhibition space, which combines both national and international topics between analogue and digital photography.

Workshops and further training

The LIK Academy for Photo and Design offers workshops for anyone who would like to familiarize themselves with analogue photography. An intensive photo workshop took place in July 2023 with professional photographer Eric Berger, who introduced the participants to the art of analogue large format photography. Many interested parties were able to expand their knowledge with topics such as the handling of 4×5 inch cameras and the development of black and white films. It's clear that the city of Vienna is a vibrant center for photography and continually promotes new talent - and Claudio Farkasch is an integral part of this dynamic scene with “The Club”.

The Neubau district remains not only a melting pot for creative minds, but also a place where art, culture and personal passion go hand in hand. Anyone who wants to find out more about the exciting developments in photography will always find something new to discover.
