Book presentation and workshops: Participation party in the Gleisgarten on November 6th!

Things are creative and lively in Meidling: On November 6th, the Gleisgarten at Eichenstrasse 2 will be the venue for an exciting book presentation and a festival for the neighborhood. Mario Schinner-Krendl presents his new work “Do It Together City – Edition 1120 Vienna Untermeidling and Gaudenzdorf”. It's not just about the book content, but also about actively helping to shape your own neighborhood.

The Gleisgarten invites you to this book presentation from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is accompanied by numerous hands-on stations and workshops intended for young and old. For example, visitors can learn how to build a bumblebee box or an insect hotel. Creative topics such as screen printing on bags and designing calendars from paper collages are also on the program. Participation in these DIY workshops is free, but registration is required on the [GB*Stern Association] website (https://www.gbstern.at/suedwest/news/detail/3819/).

A book for the neighborhood

The book itself highlights committed people in Meidling and their creative ideas for revitalizing the neighborhood. It contains inspiring portraits and practical tips for those actively involved. Topics such as the newly designed park, the self-managed supermarket, and the flowering alley are impressively presented. Visitors to the event even receive a free copy of the book to further bring the ideas and projects to life.

The afternoon is peppered with highlights: At 5 p.m. there will be a panel discussion on the topic “Making the city together – but how?” instead of. Here, guests can gain valuable insights into joint projects and possibly contribute their own ideas.

The supporting program

There is also a colorful supporting program: information tables from the Wohnstraße Kollmayergasse association, Mei Meidling and the MILA supermarket offer information on other neighborhood activities. The Foodcoop Löwenzahn also provides culinary delights and tastings.

A special highlight is a concert by singer-songwriter kleinabaoho, which perfectly rounds off the creative atmosphere. Snacks and drinks provide a relaxed opportunity for exchange and idea generation among those present.

The opening of the open bookcase at Meidlinger Markt, in which an old telephone booth is being repurposed, fits perfectly with this day of the event. Here, readers can bring the books they have read and take new works with them in exchange - everything according to the “give and take” principle.

November 6th promises to be an exciting day for everyone who wants to get involved in their neighborhood and find new inspiration. Be there in the Gleisgarten and help create it together! Further information is available on MeinBezirk.
