Team composition and training

The Austrian team is made up of talented players from several federal states: Innsbruck, Linz, Salzburg, Graz as well as three Viennese clubs - the Vienna Vanguards and the Danube Direwolves. International context

The Quadball World Championship, held by the International Quadball Association, has continued to evolve since its inception in London in 2012. In the latest edition, 31 teams took part, including a team from Africa for the first time. In international comparison, the other competitors are aiming to beat the USA, which won the world championship title in Florence in 2018.

The triumphs and challenges for the teams are many. France, which is in 4th place in the current international ranking, also has a good chance of winning a medal and fought against Austria, England, Mexico and India in the preliminary round. Teams also have to adapt to weather conditions and the time difference, which brings additional pressure.

For the Austrian players, this World Cup was not only a sporting challenge, but also an opportunity to present themselves internationally and share their love of the game. All teams are concerned with optimizing team cohesion and player rotation in order to be successful against highly competitive teams.

Overall, Austria showed at the Quadball/Quidditch World Cup 2025 that it is becoming more and more established in international sport. Another chapter in the history of Quidditch is being written, and hope remains for even better placings in the future.
