Vienna is investing in the future: Health association starts major project!
Viennese pay attention! The “More Space to Get Healthy” campaign starts from September 4th to 29th and provides information about the Vienna Health Association's largest modernization project. It can be said with a clear conscience: A lot is happening in healthcare here! The comprehensive renovation of all clinics by 2040 is in full swing and promises a timely infrastructure that meets the needs of patients.
The need for renewal couldn't be clearer: many of the city's hospitals are over 100 years old. However, this does not mean that patient care will be saved during construction work. Quite the opposite - the supply is guaranteed around the clock and careful planning makes it possible to build during ongoing operations.
New splendor for the pavilion hospitals
A highlight of the project is the new pavilion hospitals in Ottakring and Hietzing, which will function as central clinics. In addition to the architectural renovation, patients can expect contemporary furnishings. So everyone, without exception, is accommodated in a single or double room. This type of accommodation not only contributes to recovery, but also creates a pleasant atmosphere for hospitalization.
But that's not all. In addition, the public bus shelters in front of the WIGEV clinics will be part of the information campaign. This ensures that the Viennese population is optimally informed about ongoing developments.
Shared responsibility for health
A central aspect of health care in Austria is the shared responsibility of the federal government, states, municipalities and social insurance companies. The Austrian Health Structural Plan (ÖSG), which is decided by all these actors, forms the basis for the further development of the health system. This plan not only contains clear statements on planning and quality standards, but also a major equipment plan that is essential for the regional organization of health care.
In order to ensure that medical care is regulated in detail, the Regional Health Structural Plans (RSG) serve as a foundation. Vienna is divided into three care regions: the North-East region with the Floridsdorf Clinic and the Donaustadt Clinic, the South Region with the Landstrasse Clinic and the Favoriten Clinic, and the West Region, which includes the Ottakring and Hietzing Clinics. This means that the whole of Vienna remains well looked after!
The information campaign will be continued with new subjects not only during the campaign period, but also after the first phase in June 2025. Healthcare in Vienna is taking shape, and with the goal of providing patients with the best possible care, we can all be excited about the changes to come.
