Peter Sverak: New district chairman for Hietzing – an ear for entrepreneurs!

There are changes in the Chamber of Commerce in the Hietzing district: Peter Sverak took over the office of district chairman on July 1, 2025. The native of Ober-St.-Veiter brings a wealth of experience, including 15 years in leading positions in the political and economic environment. Previously, he was managing director of the ÖVP Vienna, where he worked intensively on strategic communications. After the ÖVP's unfortunate election results in April 2025, he gave up this position and is now focusing on his new role as a contact person for entrepreneurs in Hietzing. This decision comes at a time when direct exchange and visibility of economic concerns in the district are particularly needed.

“I know the realities of many entrepreneurs here and want to represent their concerns,” says Sverak. He is committed to building a bridge between business and institutions. Hietzing has a colorful economic landscape that ranges from family businesses to individual companies and innovative formats. Familiar with the different neighborhoods such as Ober-Sankt-Veit, Lainz and Schönbrunn, Sverak wants to promote dialogue and ensure that the voice of entrepreneurs is heard. “Personal responsiveness and networking between the companies and the chamber are at the top of my agenda,” said the new district chairman.

An emphasis on collaboration

A central challenge will be to make the concerns of committed entrepreneurs visible and to strengthen cooperation with the district management and local initiatives. Sverak has set himself the goal of acting as a person of trust and he attaches great importance to dealing with the issues that are current in the company in a respectful and convincing manner. “I want to keep an ear out for the entrepreneurs in the district and actively listen,” he explains.

Sverak is supported in his new role by the team from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Association. His many years of experience and his commitment to the local economy could make a decisive contribution to smoothing things over between entrepreneurs and the chamber. At a time when many businesses are having to navigate the challenges of the modern economy, it is more important than ever to maintain an open dialogue.

The diversity of offerings and funding opportunities in the district will also be a theme of Sverak's term in office. He wants businesses in the district to be fully informed about the resources available to them.

How the economy will develop in Hietzing and what impulses Peter Sverak can provide remains to be seen. However, one thing is clear: the new district chairman is going to work with fresh enthusiasm and a clear plan to promote entrepreneurial spirit in the 13th district.
