New Year's concert in Dörnbach: Music from the Titanic enchants!

The New Year is not far away and in Wilhering it will be welcomed with a very special concert: On Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at 7 p.m., the Dörnbach parish center invites you to a New Year's concert with the motto “With momentum into the new year 2026”. The net proceeds from the event will benefit the renovation of the beautiful Dörnbach pilgrimage church.

The ensemble “The White Star Line Quintet” provides the musical accompaniment. This ensemble is not only the first professional ensemble of its kind dedicated to the memory of the musicians of the Titanic and their time, but also consists of accomplished musicians from professional orchestras in Upper Austria and Lower Bavaria, as well as teachers from the Upper Austrian State Music School. The founder of the quintet, Patrick Cornelius Vida, is an established expert on the era and a Titanic enthusiast for around 30 years. The quintet's repertoire includes at least 360 pieces of music and aims to bring the elegance and exhilaration of ocean voyages to a broad audience.

The music of the Titanic and its time

The concert will focus in particular on the salon music, which is around a hundred years old and comes from both the Titanic and her sister ship of the “White Star Line”. The pieces played are complemented by captivating stories about the Titanic, making the evening an unforgettable experience for all music lovers and history enthusiasts.

Patrick Vida will host the evening and will certainly touch the hearts of the listeners with his specialist knowledge. To heighten the excitement, stories are told that recall the last performance of the Titanic's on-board musicians - a moving chapter in maritime history that took place between the waves of the sea in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912. Back then, the elegant first class passengers entertained the musicians with waltzes and ragtimes while the ship tragically met its fate in the dark waves.

A piece of history for a good cause

The New Year's concert in the Dörnbach parish center will not only revive the musical flair of days gone by, but will also make a valuable contribution to the preservation of the Dörnbach pilgrimage church. The combination of music and storytelling, paired with a good cause, makes the event an absolute highlight in Wilhering's cultural calendar.

Enthusiastic spectators can expect an evening full of memories, music and emotions. Anyone who would like to take the opportunity to immerse themselves in this fascinating world of salon music should definitely not miss the concert!
