Discover the 12 hours of LiDo”: hiking fun in Floridsdorf and Donaustadt!

On October 18, 2025, Vienna will be the setting for a special experience: The “12 Hour LiDo” hiking day invites all nature and city lovers to explore the districts of Floridsdorf and Donaustadt. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., participating hikers can cover a distance of around 50 kilometers along the district borders and experience the beauty of the city up close. It is an excellent opportunity to discover the recreational areas and charming neighborhoods.

With a total of 12 stages, which are linked to awards for commitment and the spirit of discovery, there are many reasons to lace up your hiking boots. Hiking maps and stamp passes are handed out free of charge at the stamp stations located along the route. Participants can not only track the entire route with their stamp pass, but also get small goodies from three stamps and an exclusive surprise gift for completing all 12 stages. In addition, entry into the “LiDo Hall of Fame” awaits the most active hiking enthusiasts, as vienna.at reports.

Diverse route and highlights

The route leads through some of Vienna's most beautiful recreational areas, including the Danube Island and the Norbert Scheed Forest. Here you have the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and nature. Other highlights of the route include the Marchfeld Canal, the Bisamberg, the Seestadt Aspern and the idyllic cellar alleys of Stammersdorf. Not only are hiking maps available at the stamp stations, but also information about drinking fountains, public toilets and barrier-free sections, so that every hiker can feel well prepared.

The district leaders Georg Papai from Floridsdorf and Ernst Nevrivy from Donaustadt are behind the event and emphasize the importance of such initiatives to promote movement and community. This event is also supported by the “Austria on Foot” initiative of the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, which aims to further promote walking in Vienna, as described on 5min.at. is reading.

Participation in the event is free and registration is not required. Regardless of whether you decide to attempt the entire distance or just try out individual stages – there is something for everyone in “12 Hours of LiDo”. So, pack your hiking boots and let's discover the idyllic corners of Floridsdorf and Donaustadt together!
