Celebrities kick for a good cause: 20,000 euros for Cape 10!

On October 11, 2025, a very special charity football tournament took place in the Generali Arena in Vienna. Organized by MayorMichael Ludwigand the President of the Vienna Economic Chamber,Walter Ruck, the focus was on a good cause and supporting disadvantaged people. The proceeds from the tournament flow into the organization Cape 10, a social and health-centered innovation project in Vienna-Favoriten that supports children and young people affected by poverty.

With a remarkable line-up of prominent participants – including bobsledders and Olympic starsKatrin Beierl, the ski professionalChristian Walderand the rowing legendChristoph Schmölzer– the mood on the pitch was better than ever. They were supported by all sorts of VIPs, such as the Super G world championStephanie Venierand cabaret artistChristoph Fälbl.

The tournament format

A total of four teams competed against each other: “Politics” led by Ludwig, “Economy” led by Ruck, “Sport and Culture” and “Media”. In the end, the “Media” team with the better goal difference prevailed against the “Politics” team with the same number of points. A total of 30 goals were scored in this exciting competition, which makes for an exciting game!

The donations collected amounted to:20,000 euroswere onSiegfried Meryn, the initiator and chairman of Cape 10. This will further strengthen the impressive project, which is based on 5,000 square meters provides a wide range of services for people affected by poverty.

A house of social innovation

The impressive construction of Cape 10 was unveiled in December 2018 and completed in 2020 with the help of donations. This “House of the Future” offers support ranging from healthcare to education and therapy. The facilities include a social and health practice, a competence center for young people and families and a medical-social outpatient clinic for homeless women and their children.
