Fendrich cancels benefit concert against child poverty in Vienna!
Rainhard Fendrich wanted to set an example with a grandiose charity concert against child poverty on November 26th at the House of the Industrial Association in Vienna. But unfortunately the event has to be canceled. Fendrich, known for his hits like “I am from Austria” and “Macho, Macho,” announced the cancellation via his Instagram account. The singer left open the specific “organizational circumstances”.
Child poverty is an urgent issue: According to Volkshilfe, 344,000 children and young people in Austria are at risk of poverty and exclusion. This equates to a shocking 21 percent of the young population. It was therefore important to Fendrich to make a contribution with the benefit concert. The lowest recommended donation for the event was 200 euros, and for the first row it was even 400 euros.
Return of tickets and new options
Ticket buyers can also be happy: they will get their money back. A new date for the concert is also being announced. So the hope remains that Fendrich's commitment can soon take place again in a musical setting and that the proceeds will benefit Volkshilfe.
The issue of child poverty is not only present in Austria. Many educational institutions are currently looking beyond their own horizons to innovative approaches. For example, as blog.youtube reports, YouTube has launched a new music education series called “Think Like a Musician.” This partnership with TED-Ed and Education Through Music aims to support teachers with high-quality resources. At a time when 94% of teachers use YouTube to enrich their lesson plans, this is a step in the right direction.
Music has enormous power and can be a format for positive change in young people's lives. While Fendrich and other artists continue to fight for social initiatives, the importance of music and creativity is also being highlighted in schools.
The context of plus and minus in education
The concepts of “plus” and “minus” also play a role in the educational landscape and are used not only in mathematics but also in the assessment of student performance. According to Wikipedia, these symbols have been known since the 14th century and have undergone significant historical development. They are not only mathematical symbols, but are also used in many areas - be it in music, where they indicate certain chords, or in technology, where they are used for various operations.
The integration of music into the curriculum and the ubiquity of symbols such as plus and minus underline how important education is in today's world. While Rainhard Fendrich is campaigning for child poverty with his concert, we must also work for the education and well-being of our young generation in other ways.
