Ax attack in Vienna: 16-year-old dies after brutal act!
In a shocking crime that took place in Vienna on October 6th last year, 16-year-old call boy Nayden P. lost his life to the brutal attacks of Ingo S. (45). The perpetrator, equipped with a lumberjack axe, is said to have attacked his victim with a total of 50 blows before leaving the grisly scene and hiding with relatives in Upper Austria. After his arrest, Ingo S. expressed his sadness and desperation over the situation in a letter to the police and described Nayden as a “sweetheart”.
The crime scene in the Sonnwendviertel was characterized by bloodshed and sadness. Ingo S. covered the victim after the attack and left a blood-stained letter. The charges against him are based on a motive of blackmail by the victim's brother, evidenced in a document on his laptop containing attempts at blackmail and apologies. The trial could have serious consequences for S.: he faces life imprisonment.
Health and legal situation
Ingo S. is now suffering from serious health problems as he suffered a serious neck injury while in custody. He is dependent on artificial nutrition and can only whisper. His defense attorney describes him as a “heap of misery” weighing under 50kg. Despite his miserable condition, he is already thinking about a time after prison that he would like to spend with his elderly parents.
The crime sheds light on the worrying situation of violent crime in Europe. According to statistics, violent crimes such as murder and robbery are the forms with the highest level of violence. In Germany, for example, violent crimes account for less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police, but have a significant impact on the population's sense of security. Around 217,000 violent crimes were recorded in 2024, the highest number since 2007 reports Statista.
Development of violent crime
The increase in violent crime in recent years is worrying. After a decline during the corona pandemic, the numbers have risen again since 2021 to almost a third above the previous low. The Federal Criminal Police Office suspects that economic uncertainties and social pressures contribute to this. The rise in violent crime among young people is particularly concerning; a third of the suspects are under 21 years old. Violence against emergency workers has also reached record levels, reflecting the ongoing mental health issues that many citizens have experienced states the bpb.
In view of such incidents, it is of utmost importance to take measures across society to counteract acts of violence and strengthen the population's sense of security. The case of Ingo S. and Nayden P. painfully reminds us that violent crimes are not just statistics, but involve the tragic fates of people who have to live with serious consequences from their actions.
