First Female Writing Camp in Vienna: Female artists create new hits!
From October 13th to 16th, 2025, a very special event took place at Tonherd Studios in Vienna: the first Austrian Female* Writing Camp, organized by Schedler Music in cooperation with the well-known singer-songwriter Ina Regen. An inviting gathering where artists from German-speaking countries worked to create new songs and inspire each other.
The camp had a clear goal: to create more visibility for women in the music industry - whether as songwriters, producers or performers. The motto “It’s all about the Song” guided participants through this creative journey and helped foster a sense of community and exchange. A total of eighteen artists had the opportunity to work in three teams and develop twelve fresh songs from this collaboration. This initiative is intended not only to support the creative process, but also to encourage young women to pursue a career in the often male-dominated industry Schedler Music highlights.
A space for creative development
The event was aimed particularly at FLINTA* people (women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans and agender) in order to also offer these groups a place in the music business. The exchange between the artists led to an understanding of each other and emphasized the importance of working together as equals. Another highlight was the listening session on the last evening, in which the new songs were presented. The atmosphere was characterized by mutual appreciation and enthusiasm for working together.
Current statistics also show that the focus on women in the music industry is urgently needed: Loud NDR Only 15% of the music in the German charts is composed by women. These numbers highlight the gender pay gap and the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions. It is the industry's responsibility to take active measures to increase equity and visibility.
A place for young talent
What is particularly pleasing is that, in cooperation with the MUFA – Music for All association, a place was allocated for a young artist who had the opportunity to learn from established songwriters and producers. This not only offers a platform, but also a valuable network that supports and promotes young talent.
With these initiatives, the Female* Writing Camp is sending a strong message for diversity and justice in the music industry. It remains to be hoped that such projects will be further expanded in the future in order to sustainably change the creative landscape and give women even more space in music. Because one thing is certain: there is still a lot to tell, and women's voices must be heard!
