Wels judo team on the road to success: Final Four beckons!
Excitement is in the air when it comes to the Wels Judo Team! The Tips report that the LZ Multikraft Wels is determined to fight for a place in the coveted final tournament in Gmunden. After a convincing 12-2 win against WAT Stadlau, the team is looking forward to the Bundesliga with full confidence. Coach Thomas Haminger says that theoretically only the top four places can be threatened by other teams. Wels is currently proudly in second place in the table with four wins and one defeat.
And that's going really well! There are still two rounds left: The first kicker goes away against the third-placed team from ESV Sanjindo Bischofshofen, followed by JU Burgkirchen/Schwand, also third team in the table. However, Wels has to adapt to three injured key players: Daniel Leutgeb and Firas Ben Saad are out, while Issa Naschcho proved himself at the European Cup in Skopje. There he competed in the weight class up to 90 kilos and fought his way through the preliminary rounds, but ultimately lost in the small final and took fifth place.
Upcoming events and achievements
Another highlight is on Sunday, October 5th: the Colop Masters in the Raiffeisen Arena, where more than 600 judokas are expected. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. – a must for all judo fans! More information can be found on the club's website judo-wels.at.
In the season so far, the team achieved first place in the first round of the 1st Bundesliga, relegating the Allianz Kukla Galaxy Tigers to second place. The home win against ESV Sanjindo Bischofshofen ended with an impressive 9:5, and coach Manfred Dullinger particularly praised the young talents such as Abdul-Rahman Idigov and Ilia Sulamanidze, who bring a lot of momentum to the team.
Everything about the championships
The team performed excellently at the ASKÖ Federal Championships in Mürzzuschlag: They won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. The performances of Paula Niedermayr and Marlies Müller, who won gold medals, were outstanding, while former black belt holder Anna Bachler continued to celebrate success and won silver at the U-17 mixed team championships in Munich.
The anticipation for the next Bundesliga duel against Bischofshofen is growing, as Wels has the opportunity to secure first place in the regular round. The student league also has its challenges, with a 1:15 defeat against ASKÖ Fairdrive Leonding, while the farm team achieved an exciting win 13:9.
The Wels team has a lot to offer and the coming weeks promise to be exciting. If you want to get an idea of the competitive atmosphere for yourself, you shouldn't miss the Raiffeisen City Championships and the EWW Talent Cup, in which Raiffeisenbank Wels is the new partner!
