New Albert Schultz Park: Green paradise for all Viennese!
The new Albert Schultz Park: More green for the Danube city
A new recreational area is being built in the heart of the Danube city: the Albert Schultz Park. With an area of an impressive 22,218 square meters, the park in the “Oberes Hausfeld” area will not only be a place for relaxation, but also a contribution to improving the urban climate. The groundbreaking ceremony for the park has already taken place, and the residents' anticipation of a new piece of nature under the trees is palpable.
The park will offer numerous amenities, including a 12,052 square meter lawn that will create space for various activities and relaxing outdoors. In a shady oasis with 11 pergolas, which are a total of 223 square meters, visitors can refresh themselves on hot summer days. The concept places great emphasis on climate-friendly design: 252 new trees will not only improve the microclimate, but also actively contribute to binding fine dust and CO2, thus ensuring a healthier air mix. According to experts from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), such green spaces significantly improve air quality and offer an important remedy against extreme weather and urban heat islands. They simultaneously promote people's well-being and increase the quality of life in urban areas.
Diverse offers for everyone
The Albert Schultz Park will be a true paradise for active vacationers and families. In addition to an inclusive playground that includes climbing and balancing elements as well as swings and slides, a barrier-free integration carousel will also be available. For the older ones, there is a spacious calisthenics facility and three table tennis tables that invite you to take part in sporting activities. Whether playing, training or just sitting together – there is something for everyone. Water features with various jets and a mud table also ensure splashy fun on hot days, while four drinking fountains provide fresh water.
The park's paths are made of light-colored, water-permeable materials, which promotes the infiltration of rainwater - an important measure to prevent flooding in urban areas. The lighting along the main paths also ensures safety and orientation in the evening hours. In addition, a public toilet facility will be set up at MA 48, which will increase the comfort of visitors.
A favorite green cookie
Residents can look forward to a variety of relaxing options: from classic sitting on benches or loungers to enjoying hammocks, wooden decks and sitting stones - staying here becomes a pleasure. The newly created perennial and grass beds, which extend over 1,315 square meters, are intended to promote biodiversity and provide habitat for various animals. Because it's not just people's well-being that is important to city planners - nature should also find its place.
Albert Schultz Park is named after the former politician and district leader of the Danube city. With this new recreational area, the Danube city is taking a further step towards a greener and more livable city. Let's look forward to the completion and discover together the future favorite place of all Viennese!
