Drama in the squad! Rangnick fights before the duel against Bosnia!

On Tuesday afternoon Ralf Rangnick will take an important step in his coaching career. He is making his “debut” in the new ÖFB campus in Aspern and will introduce his team squad for the first time. The anticipation is great, but the personnel situation in the Austrian football team couldn't be more tense. Before the World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Bosnia, several players are on the brink, which poses a challenge for Rangnick, given the current form and fitness of his players.

The loss of team captain David Alaba, who is not part of the Real Madrid squad due to a calf injury, is particularly painful. Left-back Philipp Mwene is also suspended for the upcoming game in Limassol. Things aren't looking any better for the striker positions either: Michael Gregoritsch has only had 33 minutes of playing time since the defeat against Romania and has recently been battling an illness. Patrick Wimmer from Wolfsburg is also not in much demand, and Marko Arnautovic can only look back on 64 minutes after a thigh injury. Rangnick has to react quickly!

Injuries and players on call

Special attention should also be paid to Raul Florucz, who missed Union St. Gilloise's last two games due to injury. In contrast to him, Nikolaus Wurmbrand from Rapid and Marco Grüll from Werder Bremen were in regular action; Grüll even scored two goals. However, things didn't go well for the strikers on the call list - Junior Adamu, Max Entrup, Sasa Kalajdzic and Andi Weimann - and they couldn't recommend themselves.

About the situation with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Peter Linden reports that their team boss Sergej Barbarez has to worry less about the striker positions. Haris Tabakovic, who was injured in September, is fit again and is part of the squad. After a successful first season in which he scored 21 goals in 42 games, Tabakovic moved to Hertha BSC for half a million euros and was later signed by Hoffenheim for three million euros. He has already scored six goals in ten appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach and could play in attack with Edin Dzeko, who is still dissatisfied in the Conference League and Serie A - he has not scored a goal so far.

Injury risks in football

It's nothing new that injuries are always an issue in football. Statistics show that around a third of all sports accidents in Germany occur during football and the risk of injury is particularly high here. According to GDV, 46.3% of injuries have to do with muscles or ligaments, while bone fractures account for 29.1%. The average cost of a football injury is estimated at 5,300 euros. Experts therefore recommend private accident insurance that offers additional services beyond basic medical care.

It will be crucial for the football players in Austria that they can stick together and give their best despite these challenging circumstances. The game against Bosnia is sure to be exciting and offers the opportunity to mercilessly exploit weaknesses - for both Rangnick and Barbarez.
