Döbling: District parliament is fighting dangerous Roadrunner!
Today, the Döblingen district parliament met for the first time in the new legislative period and before the summer break. There were no fewer than six applications on the agenda, including five of the NEOS and an application from the FPÖ, as well as an inquiry from the NEOS and an application for resolutions by the Greens. A central topic was the worrying behavior of so -called "Roadrunnern", which are noticed by their ruthless driving behavior, noise pollution and garbage deposits. On June 24th, for example, a driver on Heiligenstädter Straße was flashed with a whopping 120 km/h, although only 50 km/h are allowed there, as [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbeinbzirk.at/doebling/c-politik/loesungen- against- Roader- remnant-noch-aus_a7409534) reported. Various measures were discussed at the meeting to counteract the speed of speeds in Klabundgasse. However, the already proposed temporary parking and holding bans as well as a nightly pace 30 speed limit did not find the approval of the MA 46. At the same time, residents even considered to engage a private detective in order to act legally against the speeders.
step to solve the problem
District head Daniel Resch and district vice Robert Wutzl from the ÖVP emphasized the joint interest of all factions in a solution, but many suggestions were rejected. An application from the SPÖ for allocation to the transport commission was accepted. Another important point was the request of the Neos to have Klabundgasse checked as a residential street. This application was unanimously assigned to the transport commission.
Overall, the session provided an overview of the current applications that reflect the different concerns of the political groups:
- resolution application "brave & sound: for solidarity, protection and human rights" (Greens): Suppose against the votes of the FPÖ.
- Application "Make the toilet at the cemetery publicly accessible" (NEOS): Suppose against the votes of the FPÖ.
- Application "Measures against Roadrunner in Klabundgasse" (NEOS): assigned to the traffic commission against votes from Neos and Greens.
- Application "Examination of a public connection path Krapfenwald-Schönstatt for Footing" (NEOS): Unanimously accepted.
- Application "Transfer of the post on the corner of Pfarrwiesengasse/Grinzinger Allee" (NEOS): Returned.
- Application "Examination residential street Klabundgasse" (NEOS): unanimously assigned to the transport commission.
- Application "Establishment of a dog zone at the Ottingerwiese playground" (FPÖ): unanimously assigned to the district development commission.
Overall, it remains to be seen which measures will result from the advice of the transport commission. One thing is clear: the need for action is high and the residents are ready to actively stand up for more traffic safety.
