17-year-old in Vienna wakes up from a coma – focus on drugs and suspects!

In a worrying matter, a 17-year-old girl was found in a Vienna apartment last week. A 911 call reported that the girl, who showed suspicious signs of a drug overdose, did not wake up. The rescue workers had to intervene immediately and resuscitated the girl, who was then taken to a clinic. She was in a coma on Wednesday, but was able to wake up from the coma on Friday. However, her health condition did not allow immediate questioning, which complicates the investigation. Loud World Injuries were found on the girl's body, although a possible sexual offense cannot be ruled out.

Three of the suspects, aged 21 to 35, lived together in the apartment. The fourth man is considered a friend of the group. These men deny any form of sexual activity and argue that they were simply offering them a place to sleep. One of the men initiated the emergency call after the girl was no longer responsive. The suspects' cell phones were seized to advance further investigations, while all four suspects are currently at large ORF reported.

The background to the tragedy

The criminal investigations show that the girl had previously been reported missing by her parents and had already been arrested for drug-related offenses. It is not the first time that such cases have occurred in Vienna and the population is wondering how such incidents can occur. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) makes it clear that such investigation results should also be viewed in the context of the police crime statistics (PKS), which comprehensively document the development of criminal events in Austria.

The PKS offers a different view of crime in the country, but only records crimes that are reported and sent to the court. Unreported cases and the outcome of court proceedings are not taken into account, which means that not all aspects of crime can be reflected in the statistics. Nevertheless, it is an important tool for the strategic planning of security authorities.

It remains to be seen how the further investigation will proceed and what details will come to light. The people of Vienna are hoping for a quick clarification of the circumstances surrounding this brutal incident and possible consequences for the suspects.
