Vienna, the charming cultural metropolis, shows itself in all its splendor today. With 115 cross-border events at a total of 29 locations, the city offers an impressive spectrum of art and culture. From classical heritage to contemporary experiments, the city attracts visitors from all corners of the world. Ad hoc News reports, that this is one of the most important cultural times of the year.

To kick off today's program, Debussy's masterpiece “Pelléas et Mélisande” will be performed at 6:30 p.m. in the famous Vienna State Opera, featuring, among others, the magnificent voices of Rolando Villazón, Simon Keenlyside and Kate Lindsey. In addition, the musical prowess of the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of Christian Thielemann will be celebrated in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, where works by Samy Moussa and Anton Bruckner will be performed.

A day full of culture

But that's not all: the Volksoper will make the hearts of musical fans beat faster with “My Fair Lady” in German at 6 p.m. Stefan Zweig's “Schachnovelle” will be staged in the Burgtheater at 7 p.m. In the Academy Theater, Gogol's “The Auditor” leads to exciting moments, while in the afternoon in the Josefstadt there are two performances on the program: “Azure or the Color of Water” and “Confessions of the Impostor Felix Krull” at 3 p.m.

A special highlight is the Wien Modern festival, which runs until November 30th and is dedicated to the topic of new music. This evening Arooj Aftab will perform at the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the opening ceremony took place on October 30th. By the end of November, visitors will experience a total of 44 premieres and 30 Austrian premieres at 29 venues in 11 districts. Vienna Modern combines musical diversity and the desire to focus on different social perspectives.

Cultural highlights in the museums

The city's museums also have a lot to offer. The exhibition “Brigitte Kowanz. Light is what we see” is currently running in the Albertina and closes on November 9th. At the same time, a retrospective of the photographer Lisette Model can be admired. The Bonartes Photo Institute presents Marianne Strobl's documentation of the major construction sites in Vienna around 1900. The Leopold Museum invites you to take guided tours of the exhibition “Vienna 1900. Dawn of Modernism”.

And don't forget: Buch Wien will take place from November 12th to 16th, offering over 500 events in two exhibition halls and is an absolute must for literature and knowledge enthusiasts.

It seems as if Vienna's population, which has grown by 37 percent in recent years, has developed a knack for art.
