On the trail of cancer: Vienna invites you to the exclusive Cancer School 2025!

On October 3, 2025, the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Vienna from Meduni Vienna and AKH Vienna invites you to the popular Cancer School series. The aim of this series of events is to offer patients: inside and their relatives valuable information on cancer, strengthen personal contact with Expert: Interpreting and increasing knowledge of diagnoses and treatments. The Cancer School offers four seminars to the most common cancer, including lung, breast, intestinal and prostate cancer. The first dates are set for November 4, 2025 (lung cancer) and December 2, 2025 (breast cancer). For intestinal and prostate cancer, the seminars will follow on March 25, 2026 and June 2, 2026. In addition, exclusive tours by the University Clinic for Radiooncology, the New Station Building South and the institutional pharmacy of the AKH Vienna are offered, which can be used by interested citizens: inside. The focus in the institutional pharmacy is, among other things, on the production of cytostatics and immunotherapeutics.

A wide range of information and services

Another highlight is the pension day, which is planned for February 15, 2025. This takes place in the Van Swieten Saal in Van Swieten Gasse 1a and offers valuable information about prevention and early detection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free HPV vaccs are available for everyone up to the 30th birthday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every participant should bring their vaccination pass, the e-card and an ID card. Various lectures offer an insight into topics from "with healthy behavior against cancer" to specific cancer and their early detection.

The HPV vaccination plays a central role in this. This virus is responsible for almost 100 percent of cervical cancer cases and can occur with around 85 to 90 percent of sexually active people in the course of their lives. Vaccination significantly lowers the risk of genital warts and cervical cancer, which indicates the importance of this measure.
