A spectacular drug case shakes the federal capital: By uncovering a drug plantation in Vienna, the police have landed a huge blow against the drug trade. Today, June 5, 2025, the Vienna police announced that a total of seven kilos of cannabis and numerous cannabis plants were seized. Three men were arrested as a result of this raid. Two of them confessed to running two drug plantations in their apartment, reports courier.
The discovery of these machinations was due to unwanted water damage in an apartment in the Hietzing district. Due to the damage, officers opened the door to the apartment on Tuesday and found a surprise: the apartment was filled with 120 cannabis plants and over 5,800 grams of packaged cannabis herb. After initial investigations, officers from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, South branch, took over the further investigations.
Investigations and arrests
The thorough investigation results led the police to several Italians. A 25-year-old quickly confessed that he had run the plantation in Hietzing, while his 31-year-old accomplice admitted that he had played an active role in growing and selling the drugs. The third man, a 29-year-old brother, denied the allegations and was temporarily released. The drugs were seized by the Vienna State Police Department, like that ORF reported.
