Early Summer Festival of Engineers: Networking about nuclear fusion and AI!
The summer atmosphere and professional exchange characterized the early summer festival of the Viennese engineering offices on June 26, 2025. In the picturesque surroundings of Module University at Kahlenberg Over 120 representatives from the industry gathered to find out about current developments and make contacts. ChairmanDI Lukas Mahr, BSc, warmly welcomed the guests and was proud of the specialist group's successes in representing their interests.
Special guests likeIng. Martin Heimhilcher, Division Chairman Information & Consulting, andMag. (FH) Florian Robetin, Division Manager Information & Consulting, were also present. These gatherings are not only a platform for networking, but also a chance to engage with the latest trends in the industry.
An exciting lecture
The event was attended by a physicist and science journalistDr. Florian Aignerwith his lecture “Why we don’t go through walls (but our particles do)” for numerous astonished faces. He offered in-depth insights into quantum theory and particle movements as well as thoughts on nuclear fusion, a topic that is important not only in scientific but also in economic contexts.
After the exciting lecture, the terrace with buffet – the “NetworkING Buffet” – was the perfect place to continue the exchange. Despite the cloudy sky, the guests didn't let their good mood get spoiled and enjoyed the culinary delicacies while talking animatedly about the latest trends.
Combining tradition and future
The events organized by the Vienna Engineering Offices Group symbolize the combination of tradition and innovation. This is clear not only from the early summer festival, but also from the one published in June 2022 BIM Handbook 2022. It is offered as a free e-book for the specialist public and offers valuable information for everyday planning work. The handbook was created in collaboration with industry experts and aims to provide practical answers to frequently asked questions.
The opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people and develop new ideas together shows how important such events are for the engineering community in Vienna. Also the lecture byWerner Gruberabout the use of artificial intelligence in engineering offices is a sign of how lively and future-oriented the industry is, even if it was not part of the current event.
The entire event promoted dialogue and built important contacts within the industry. The early summer festival has established itself as a highlight in the calendar of the Viennese engineering offices and we are already looking forward to the next reunion next year.
