Discover the meadows: With the Waterbus to Giethoorn and Blokzijl!
This summer, many nature lovers are drawn to the picturesque National Park Weerribben-Wieden, where the Waterbus offers a relaxing and environmentally friendly way to explore the region. Until September 30th, the water line runs daily between the charming villages of Sint Jansklooster, Blokzijl and Giethoorn. Those embarking on this adventure can enjoy the silent and electrically powered boats, which not only accommodate bicycles and dogs, but are also wheelchair accessible.
The starting point for all trips is the Bezoekerscentrum De Wieden, which is located on the Beulakerpad in Sint Jansklooster. Here, visitors learn interesting facts about the local flora and fauna and can fortify themselves with a cup of coffee or a snack at Theeschenkerij De Wieden. The perfect opportunity to prepare for the day before heading out exploring!
Flexible return travel options
After an eventful day in Blokzijl or Giethoorn, known for their picturesque bridges and idyllic waterways, there are various options for the return journey. Cyclists and hikers can make their return active by choosing shorter or longer routes back to the visitor center or to their accommodation. Alternatively, there is the option of taking the Waterbus back and ending your day in peace.
Easy ticketing
Tickets are available on both the website Waterbus as well as available directly from the skipper or in the Bezoekerscentrum. If you want to be clever, you can even save money with an OV-chipkaart. Purchasing an e-ticket is quick and uncomplicated: you simply select the number of people, enter your details and pay conveniently by IDEAL or credit card. You will then receive confirmation and the ticket by email – it’s very easy!
For those who have not received an e-ticket within two hours, we recommend checking the spam folder or contacting customer service directly if the fee is deducted.
Use the summer to explore the beautiful nature around the Waterbus and don't miss this special excursion. The combination of boat trip, hiking and cycling creates an experience that delights young and old!
