Politics vs. Economy: Charity football tournament in Favoriten!
It's that time again! On October 11, 2025, the Generali Arena in Favoriten will become an arena for a good cause. Mayor Michael Ludwig and WKW boss Walter Ruck compete against each other as captains of the “Politics” and “Economy” teams. Kick-off is at 2 p.m., and the best thing about it: entry is free! The charity football tournament attracts numerous spectators who not only want to watch an exciting game, but also show their heart for people in need.
This year the tournament aims to support the social, health and innovation center CAPE 10. This important project offers young people and children in Vienna-Favoriten a wide range of support in areas such as health care and education. On an area of 5,000 square meters, people work together under one roof to improve their living conditions. “I enjoy taking part and it’s a great opportunity to play for a good cause,” says Ludwig, who is looking forward to the sporting challenges.
A game with tradition
There have been exciting duels in recent years. Last year's winner “Wirtschaft” will do everything in its power to successfully defend the title after they emerged victorious again last year after a long break. But “Politics,” which won the year before, is also eager to strike back. So we can look forward to an exciting range of competitions. Also at the start are the “Media” teams, captained by Martin Lang, and “Sport and Culture”, led by Günther Marek. Both teams have been successful in the past and can hardly hide their motivation!
The idea behind this tournament goes beyond sporting competition. It promotes community involvement and provides an opportunity to have fun while doing something good. As the organizers of [meinkreis.at](https://www.meinbezirk.at/favoriten/c-sport/ludwig-und-wkw-chef-ruck- Werden-zu-fussballrivalen_a7706359) confirm, the event is driven by a strong sense of community and willingness to help. It will be a pleasure to see politicians and business representatives on the football field, living out their rivalry in a fair game.
Together for a good cause
Preparations for the charity tournament are already in full swing and the forecasts are good. The weather is expected to cooperate and spectators can look forward to an entertaining afternoon. As the City of Vienna reports, the event is not only intended to showcase sporting skills, but also to set an example for the support of CAPE 10. In times when the needs of many people are growing, this tournament shows that it is important to stick together as a community and support each other.
And so all that's left to say is: come along, cheer on your favorite teams and enjoy a day full of exciting football moments! Be part of a great cause and let's play together for a good cause!
