Together for a clean Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus: Next garbage campaign!
Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus is cleaned up regularly! The district's Green Party has adopted the motto "1150! We're cleaning up!" are committed to the cause and invite all residents to take part in their clean-up efforts in the parks. These take place every second Saturday of the month and have the aim of clearing the green areas of rubbish and cigarette butts. The next event is imminent: on Saturday, August 9th, in Dadlerpark, followed by an event on September 13th in Rohrauerpark, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The committed participants can count on the support of the organizers. Tongs, gloves and trash bags are provided to make cleanup as easy as possible. District councilor Florian Bichl (Greens) points out that cigarette butts in particular pose a danger to flora and can affect the health of people and animals. In Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, the small parks are more heavily contaminated with rubbish because they are harder to clean than large green areas.
Vienna waste separation and waste prevention
The city of Vienna focuses on waste separation and avoidance through its 48 waste advisory service, which is an important source of information for citizens. There are a total of six types of garbage cans for correct separation:
- Rote Tonne: sauberes Altpapier und unbeschichtete Kartons
- Braune Tonne: unbehandelte, pflanzliche Abfälle aus Garten und Küche (Biotonne)
- Gelb-Blaue Tonne: Plastikflaschen, Metallverpackungen und Getränkekartons
- Weiße Glastonnen: farbloses Verpackungsglas
- Grüne Buntglastonnen: gefärbtes Verpackungsglas
- Restmüll (schwarze Tonne): Trink-, Fenster- und Dekorationsgläser
In addition to waste separation, the city offers free workshops and worksheets to increase awareness of waste prevention. The Mistopia adventure world in the House of Mist also offers exciting puzzles and adventures on the topic of waste separation. Viennese residents can also obtain telephone advice via the manure telephone, which can be found at manure bins around the city.
Together for a better environment
Waste avoidance is very important not only in Vienna, but also on an even larger level. At the European level, the goal has been set to reduce the amount of waste by 50% by 2030. This is not only about decoupling economic growth from waste generation, but also about reducing harmful substances in materials and protecting people and the environment. Various actors should work together to achieve these goals, and in Vienna too, the focus on waste prevention helps maintain a clean and livable city.
