Explosions in Vienna: Young people blow up cigarette machines!
On the evening of November 2, 2025, two spectacular explosions occurred in Vienna, triggering an outcry among the population. In the districts of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus and Floridsdorf, cigarette machines were blown up with pyrotechnic objects. The first blast occurred around 6:45 p.m., followed by a second explosion about five hours later at 11:15 p.m. The machines were significantly damaged, but the incident not only leads to material losses, but also to an injured young person.
The police have identified three young men aged 16, 17 and 20 as suspects. What is particularly tragic is that the 16-year-old, who was at the machine at the time of the incident, suffered a head injury as a result of the explosion. He was immediately treated on site by the emergency services. However, his statement makes you sit up and take notice: he claims that he was passing by “by chance” when the explosion took place. His friends rushed to his aid, which further dramatized the situation.
Witness statements and perpetrator investigations
The police have already started an investigation and are looking for further witnesses who may be able to help clarify what happened. However, no further injuries have been reported so far, causing additional concern. Despite the explosions in two different parts of the city, no suspected perpetrators were sighted in the first explosion in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. The motive for the crime therefore remains unclear and is being examined intensively by investigators.
The incidents shed light on a serious problem that appears to be growing in the city: the use of pyrotechnics for criminal purposes. Such actions not only endanger property, but also the lives of uninvolved passers-by. These incidents could significantly shake the sense of security of Vienna's citizens, which is why the police are asking for the public's help.
Like the reporting from Salzburg24 and ORF Vienna shows, it remains to be seen what further details will come to light and whether the responsible authorities will take measures to counteract such damage to property and the threat to public safety.
