Traffic chaos in Penzing: A96 closed until 7 p.m. due to construction site!
Today, June 16, 2025, drivers in Vienna and the surrounding area must prepare for traffic disruptions. As reported by news.de. 12:31 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Maintenance work carried out on the A96 in Penzing. The construction site, which extends over a length of 500 meters, affects the direction of travel from Lindau towards Munich, between the Landsberg am Lech-Ost (26) and Schöffelding (27) junctions.
This extensive renovation work is part of a larger expansion project and can lead to significant disruptions while driving. Drivers should be prepared for possible traffic jams and plan alternative routes if necessary.
Additional construction sites and dangers
But that's not all that needs to be considered today. According to verkehrslage.de, bottleneck-like situations also occur in other areas of the A96. Mowing work will take place between Holzgünz and Memmingen-Ost today from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during which the left lane will be closed. Here, too, drivers must be aware of the danger posed by people on the road.
Another construction site was reported today in Eching am Ammersee: between Landsberg am Lech-Nord and Greifenberg the left lane will remain closed until around 4:00 p.m. This moving construction site will also impede traffic flow.
Road safety in focus
The Bavarian Road Construction Administration has made traffic safety its top priority. As stmb.bayern.de explains, comprehensive measures are planned to reduce the number and severity of road traffic accidents. This includes, among other things, structural separation of traffic types, the creation of barrier-free pedestrian and cyclist crossings and the installation of passive protective devices.
These tenders and renovation programs attempt to continually improve the infrastructure while at the same time disrupting the flow of traffic as little as possible. The commitment to high-quality road infrastructure is becoming increasingly important, especially with regard to future technologies such as autonomous driving.
We recommend that all road users who are on the road today plan their routes carefully and, if necessary, switch to alternative modes of transport. Safety comes first – and if you hit the streets unprepared, you could quickly get stuck in a traffic jam!
