New residential area in Vienna: 146 municipal apartments allocated from Monday!
A lot is happening in the area of housing in Vienna. From Monday, September 8th, 146 new community apartments will be available in the innovative “Village im Third” project. This new residential area is being built on the former Aspanggrund area between Landstraßer Belt and Otto-Preminger-Straße. These apartments are intended to provide a new home for around 4,000 people and are part of the city's comprehensive community housing offensive.
The apartments impress with a wide range: those interested can look forward to one to four-room apartments with flexible floor plans, balconies and loggias. The apartments are only given to people with a Vienna Housing Ticket and a proven need for housing. Registration takes place on the website Housing advice Vienna.
New standards for community housing
“Village im Third” focuses on sustainability and modern living concepts. The communal facilities include not only two green terraces, but also winter gardens and a large communal kitchen, which are intended to promote exchange among residents. There will also be a landscaped inner courtyard with play and recreational opportunities. The energy-efficient supply is provided by a combination of 500 geothermal probes, photovoltaic systems and district heating, so that residents can live in an environmentally conscious manner.
These new investments in housing are part of the city's strategy to expand the 220,000 existing municipal apartments in Vienna. Around 500,000 people currently live here in these affordable rental apartments, which do not require any equity, deposits or time limits. The city of Vienna has also made available a special fund of 31.5 million euros to create even more modern and attractive municipal apartments, such as Viennese living reported.
The advantages of community housing
- Keine Eigenmittel erforderlich
- Keine Kaution
- Keine Befristung
- 100 % Vergabe durch Wiener Wohnen
- Kostengünstige Mieten
Every fourth person in Vienna lives in a municipal apartment. These are to be viewed as normal main rental apartments where the City of Vienna acts as the owner. Rental contracts are open-ended and the rental prices are very cheap compared to private offers.
The opportunity to improve your own living situation is available to all community tenants. After being the main tenant in an apartment for at least five years, you can apply to move to a larger, smaller or equivalent apartment. However, the award is always non-discriminatory and person-specific, taking social aspects into account, such as wohnberatung-wien.at adds.
With this offensive, Vienna is not only making a significant contribution to the creation of affordable living space, but is also promoting sustainable urban development and creating new jobs. The first new community buildings are scheduled to be handed over to their new residents in autumn 2023. The city has a good hand in implementing this to meet the great need for living space.
