East Tyrol's farmers launch new online platform for direct marketing!

Something exciting is happening in East Tyrol: the newly launched platform gaumenfest.at offers Tyrolean farmers the opportunity to market their products directly from the farm. This not only bypasses the middleman, but the companies can also keep 100% of their sales price. This is intended to help strengthen regional value creation and ensure transparency regarding the origin of the products.

The idea comes at a particularly opportune time. Around 30% of the agricultural businesses in Tyrol, or around 4,000 businesses, already rely on direct marketing. Loud tirol.lko.at 1,500 companies generate a significant portion of their income from this. The trend towards regionality, quality and transparency is ensuring increasing sales and even a switch from part-time to full-time employment, which creates a positive mood among farmers.

Support for companies

The origin of the products and the fair price are of great importance, especially these days. The entire concept of gaumenfest.at is supported by the federal government, the state of Tyrol and the EU. This support also includes a digital infrastructure that enables even small businesses to start selling online without major technical or financial hurdles.

There are currently 16 companies listed on the platform, 14 of which come from East Tyrol. The prospect is promising: in the future, 150 supported companies from all over Tyrol will be represented on gaumenfest.at. Interested farmers can find out more and register directly on the platform. The monthly contribution for the companies starts at a reasonable 20 euros.

Education and quality are the focus

As the LKO reports, consumer feedback is an additional motivation for many direct marketers. Over 10% of farmers plan to enter direct marketing if they receive the appropriate information and training. To get started professionally, it is important to deal with hygiene requirements, food labeling and other relevant topics.

Thanks to an extensive range of advice and further training, farmers are supported at various levels. From production technology to legal issues - the advice is varied and designed to help companies ensure food quality and successfully implement their concerns in direct marketing.

So the chances for direct sales are good – not just in East Tyrol, but throughout Tyrol. At a time when regionality and fresh products are so popular, it is clear that direct marketing is a viable option for many farmers.
