Festival AlpenKammerMusik 2025: A festival of sounds in the Lesachtal!
The Lesachtal, known as the most natural valley in Europe, will once again be the stage for the famous AlpenKammerMusik this year. The 17th edition of this festival, which attracts chamber music lovers from all over the world, will take place from June 21 to July 5, 2025. Anyone interested in first-class musical performances or intensive rehearsals has come to the right place. MeinBezirk.at reports that the participants have the opportunity to rehearse in the picturesque setting of the Lesach Valley and at the same time learn from experienced international lecturers.
With over 40 participants from different countries, the festival will bring many enthusiastic musicians to the region this year. The practice rooms are spread throughout the village, including the parish church and the folk music academy. The concerts, where renowned musicians such as Tanya Bannister and Youngeun Lee will perform, are particularly impressive. The exact dates can be found on the festival's official website.
The workshops in the Lesachtal
A decade ago, Elena Levina and Daniel Swartz moved their “Alpine chamber music” workshops from Rome to the Lesachtal. This decision came after an inspiring visit to the Lesachtal and the Folk Music Academy. This year, organizers Tanya Bannister and Randall Scarlata are taking responsibility for the workshops, which will take place from July 22nd to 30th. Kleine Zeitung has the details published.
The festival offers inviting sessions for musicians of all ages, from 18 to 80, and appeals to students as well as committed amateurs and professionals. Participants can choose from one-week or two-week sessions. Auditors are also welcome and can take part in coaching sessions during the festival. So if you want to deepen your skills in chamber music, you've come to the right place.
Unique musical experiences
AlpenKammerMusik attaches great importance to an intimate and unique experience. Daily rehearsals are conducted in groups, with at least one faculty member in each group. The musicians can also indicate their repertoire preferences when applying and enjoy leisure trips in the Lesachtal region, be it hiking or fishing. The official website provides all the necessary information.
Most performances take place in the spacious cultural hall in Liesing, which can accommodate up to 500 people and has a Bechstein grand piano. This hall is intended to present the musical sounds of the festival in the best quality. Early applications for participation are recommended as some instruments are in high demand and places are limited.
In summary, the Lesachtal will become a musical stronghold in the coming weeks. The combination of authentic surroundings, intensive workshops and excellent lecturers promises to be an unforgettable experience.
