New gastro hotspot in Vienna: Strangely combines fine dining with flair!
Vienna is getting an exciting gastronomic hotspot: strangely, a new restaurant in Leopoldstadt has opened its doors. Located at Exhibition Street 53, this restaurant now invites you to linger from Tuesday to Saturday from 4 p.m. Operator Roland Soyka, known for his pubs - especially the popular STUWER - promises a mixture of casual fine dining and classic Italo aperitivo culture.
The atmosphere at strange is relaxed and uncomplicated, in keeping with the motto “come as you are”. Guests can look forward to quick snacks or a cozy, extensive dinner. “The aim is to create an appealing evening program from the after-work socializing,” says Soyka. With a changing chef's choice menu at 69 euros and international inspiration, variety is ensured.
Culinary highlights
The menu makes gourmets sit up and take notice. In addition to classic Italian cocktails and a selection of homemade alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialties, the food is freshly prepared on site. Chef Philipp Janisch, formerly the heart of the Danube Tower, has designed some creative dishes including:
- Grüne Tomate mit italienischem Stracciatella Käse
- Alleskönner Alpensaibling mit Melanzani
- Paprikahuhn neu interpretiert mit Kroketten und Kimchi
- Verschiedene Snacks inspiriert von internationalen Küchen wie Goldforelle mit Austern
In addition to these delicacies, the menu also includes homemade sourdough bread, crispy crackers and fermented fruit and vegetable specialties. The prices are pleasantly moderate: a glass of the curated sparkling wines such as Cava, Crémant or Prosecco starts at 7 euros, while bottles start at 35 euros.
A concept with vision
The idea of making good food accessible not only for special occasions but also for everyday life is becoming increasingly popular in the gastronomic scene. Strange fits seamlessly into the current trend of creating rental and dining communities that focus on both the quality of the food and welcoming hospitality. Like the Hamburger “100/200 Kitchen,” which has also introduced a new, more casual restaurant format to meet the growing expectations of its guests.
With strange, Roland Soyka sets an example for a new way of going out in Vienna. “We want guests to not only eat, but also to feel welcome and comfortable,” the operator concluded. A new experience with cosmopolitan flair and a taste that lasts awaits the Viennese.
