Vintage car parade delights Vienna: A weekend full of classics!

On the last weekend in August, Vienna is once again transformed into a nostalgic journey through automotive history. The Vienna Classic Days, which took place this year from August 22nd to 24th, are not only a celebration for classic car lovers, but also a highlight for everyone who is enthusiastic about tradition and culture. The restart began on Friday with the collection of the starting documents and the first contacts among the participants.

The Huma Eleven Grand Prix, which started on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Simmering, was particularly impressive. Around 200 vintage cars followed the varied route that meandered along the Danube into the Vienna Woods. During the journey along the Höhenstraße, the participants were also able to enjoy the wonderful views from Kahlenberg and Cobenzl. The lively hustle and bustle, which culminated with the parade at 6 p.m. on Vienna's Ringstrasse, attracted hundreds of onlookers who enthusiastically took photos and applauded.

A feast for the senses

The parade, in which the classic cars made two laps along the magnificent boulevard, was the emotional highlight of the event. Particularly noticeable were an old post bus as well as a bright yellow VW Beetle with a “007” logo and a Ford Model A Coupe from 1929. The anticipation of this spectacular trip quickly spread and numerous Viennese flocked to the streets to experience the spectacle up close. Mayor Michael Ludwig also acknowledged the importance of this event, which is seen as a welcome change from the hectic present and transforms Vienna into an open-air museum for vintage cars, as faktum.at reports.

On Sunday morning the presentation of the classic cars was on the town hall square, followed by a traditional classic car picnic in the Donaupark. Here, participants and spectators could not only admire the vehicles, but also network during a cozy “get-together” in the open air. Sustainable initiatives were also implemented on this day, as a tree will be planted for each team of participants - a sign of responsibility and environmental awareness that the organizers have particularly emphasized in 2025.

A look into the future

The Vienna Classic Days will take place again next year and preparations for this are already in full swing. In 2026, visitors can look forward to similar highlights and a renewed connection between tradition, culture and tourism. Admission to the events remains free and offers spectators the opportunity to experience unique vehicles and their drivers and passengers up close.

Overall, it can be said that the Vienna Classic Days are not just an event for classic car enthusiasts, but a true celebration for the whole family. Anyone who was in Vienna last weekend was able to experience first hand how automotive history comes to life.
