Kikeriki Festival: Exciting film fun for the youngest in Vienna!

The wait will soon be over! From September 13th to October 13th, 2025, the children's short film festival “Kikeriki” opens its doors at the Vienna Music Center in Josefstadt. Here, film fans young and old can look forward to a colorful program that has been specially put together for children aged 3 and over. With a total of 60 international short films, the festival brings a breath of fresh air to the cinema and invites you to an unforgettable experience. How vienna.at reports, there is a varied supporting program every festival afternoon that starts before the film screenings.

While the little viewers immerse themselves in the world of films, they can help themselves to a healthy buffet and become active themselves in creative hands-on workshops. There is also an exciting cinema quiz that gets both children and parents in the mood for the films. The organizers of the festival are those responsible for the international short film festival “dotdotdot”, who put this event together with a lot of commitment and passion.

A diverse program for all senses

The selection of films shown is diverse and covers a wide range of topics: adventures, animals, fairy tales and feelings are at the center of the action. How on kikeriki.film can be read, young viewers can discover various techniques, including stop-trick animation, textile collage and watercolor painting. An animation studio from the ZOOM Children's Museum will also be part of the workshops. The festival is aimed at the youngest cinema newcomers, but also offers entertainment for audiences of all ages.

Particular emphasis is placed on creative participation. The workshops enable children to create their own films and live out their ideas. The festival team was extremely imaginative when designing the program and put their heart and soul into it.
